Why choose Star Auto Electrics?

01

Recommended by other mechanics

'Get the best, go to Star Auto' — what a Gladesville mechanic told his own customer. Other workshops send people here.

02

4.8 stars from 91 Google reviews

82 of them five-star, built on fair pricing and faults found properly the first time.

03

Family-owned, 30+ years

Owner-operated on the same Buffalo Road strip for decades. The person who quotes your job does your job.

04

Dealer-smart, fairly priced

Reviewers keep comparing the bill to dealer quotes — an Audi seat fixed without parts the dealer wanted to replace.

05

European cars welcome

'Euro vehicles never have simple wiring diagrams' — and Dave fixes them quickly anyway, per the reviews.

What customers say

"I was referred by my regular mechanic. They said, 'Get the best, go to Star Auto,' and 'Euro vehicles never have simple wiring diagrams.' Dave rectified my job very quickly - he knows his stuff! Speedy, efficient and a really nice bloke."

Jeff

European wiring fault

"Excellent service and very happy with the workmanship of the install. Had Ford wired up to tow with Anderson plugs, electric brakes, camera monitor and scan guage. Price was great. Highly recommend Dave."

Mark

Tow wiring

"After receiving an outrageous quote for an alternator replacement by another local auto electrician, I went to David at Star Auto. I could not be happier with his work, customer service, price and honesty."

Alexander

Alternator

"David did a great job fixing electric seats problem for my Audi. He managed to find a problem and fix it without ordering new replacement parts and only charged fair amount for his labour. For comparison, official dealers quoted a replacement and labour at a much higher price point."

Vlad

Electric seats

"Star Auto Electrics fixed my reverse camera, high mount brake light, tail light, and reverse light for an unbelievable price. I felt like I ripped them off. They're honest and trustworthy. I booked in our second car upon completion of this job."

Dee

Lights & camera

"David is a legend, when my DC2DC wasn't charging my lithium battery he discovered that the original installer hadn't used the correct diameter wire and fuse to do the job. He explained how and why and replaced it, I'm very happy with the result."

The Buffalo Road workshop the other workshops send people to

We've been on this strip in Gladesville for a long time — a family business, owner-operated, the kind of place where the person who quotes the job is the person who does it. A fair few of our customers were sent here by other mechanics. We're fine with that. It's the best advertising there is.

  • Find the real fault first

Electrical gremlins get traced properly — not fixed by swapping parts until the bill hurts.

  • Repair before replace

If a part can be fixed properly, it gets fixed. Customers mention it in the reviews by name.

  • Charge for the time it took

Fair pricing is the single most common theme across 91 Google reviews.

Common questions

Where exactly is the workshop?

We're at 45 Buffalo Road, Gladesville NSW 2111 — look for the red STAR lettering on the white brick shopfront and the Lion Batteries board. There's parking out front. If you're coming from Ryde, Hunters Hill, Lane Cove or Drummoyne, it's a few minutes off Victoria Road. Call (02) 9809 5444 if you need directions.

Do you work on European cars?

Yes — European wiring is some of our most-praised work. One customer was sent here by his own mechanic with 'Euro vehicles never have simple wiring diagrams' — and the fault was fixed quickly. Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen and the rest are all welcome at the Buffalo Road workshop.

Can you wire up my tow setup?

Yes — tow bar wiring, Anderson plugs, electric brake controllers, camera monitors and scan gauges are regular jobs. Most tow wiring is done same-day at the Gladesville workshop, cable-managed neatly and tested before you leave. Call (02) 9809 5444 to book the car in.

How much will it cost?

You'll know before work starts — fair pricing is the most common theme across our 91 Google reviews. We diagnose first, quote clearly, and where a part can be properly repaired instead of replaced, we'll tell you. Customers regularly compare the bill favourably to dealer quotes.

Can you install a dashcam or driving lights I've already bought?

Yes — customer-supplied gear is welcome. Dashcams get hardwired from the fuse box with cabling reviewers describe as managed 'very well', and driving lights are fused and mounted properly. Bring it in or call (02) 9809 5444 first and we'll confirm the job and timing.

What are your opening hours?
